What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a medicinal form of botulinium toxin type A. When used in small doses it relaxes the muscles for several months. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into the facial muscles. It inhibits the muscle's ability to contract, temporarily eliminating wrinkles.
How It Works
Treatments are simple and take only a few minutes. Micro-needles are used to inject a tiny amount of BOTOX® Cosmetic into the facial muscles. Because we use such small needles, there is no sedation or anesthesia required. You may want to use a topical anesthetic or ice pack before a treatment. About a week after the injections your facial muscles will begin to relax, causing the skin to lay flat and unwrinkled. Those muscles that are not treated will contract as usual.
How long will the effect last?
Everyone is different so results vary, however most people experience the effects for several months. Follow-up treatments will be required every 4-5 months in order to maintain the desired appearance.
Where is it most effective?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is ideal for treating "dynamic wrinkles" (expression lines) around the eyes, forehead and nasal areas. The skin is continually contracted and stretched throughout your life. As you age, this can lead to wrinkles, which deepen over time. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections relax those muscles, leaving you with more youthful looking skin.
FAQ's
Is treatment painful?
Any discomfort is usually minimal. You or your technician may choose to use a topical anesthetic cream or cold pack to numb the injection areas. A treatment usually takes about 10 minutes.
